Chattanooga’s Live Music Scene
Here Come The Mummies UNDEAD LIVE DVD Review
by Bob Payne

The new Here Come The Mummies DVD, entitled “Undead Live” is superior workmanship – the best I have ever seen. Of course, it helps when you have the quality of musicians to build upon as a base. The DVD features 22 of the favorite songs from the guys in gauze, as well as some special features.

It is basically a copy of their live show, starting with the song “Believe.” For those that have been to a Mummies show, they always make a grand entrance, usually to a drum line, marching right through the crowd and on to the stage. This cut shows the entire entrance, along with the crowd’s frenzied reaction to their arrival.

All of the other cuts showcase the Mummies getting their funk on, with great vocals and instrumentation. As mentioned above, the sync between the audio and video is spot on. Several of the songs offer up some breaks, featuring all of the fantastic musicians in brief highlight performances, including fine guitar work, the unbelievably great horn section, and a percussion team second to none.

In their live shows, Here Come The Mummies are consummate professionals – never missing a beat. Since this is a DVD of a live show, performed at 12th & Porter in Nashville, the performance is spectacular.

Here Come The Mummies will have their new DVD in Chattanooga, at Rhythm & Brews, this Friday and Saturday night. In my opinion, I strongly recommend fans bring some extra cash and buy some DVD’s. They would be great gifts for friends and are priced at phenomenally low $20.
